Emerald Journal of the Week

Hi Everyone,

Please see the information below about a new Emerald initiative, which could cause some confusion. I've checked and it appears that journals outside our subscription will be included in this offer. This may well lead to students coming to the desk telling us they had access to a particular article last week, but they can't get it this week. In order to check this kind of query you might want to bookmark the link below.

Thanks,

James.

Dear Colleague,

FREE access to Journal of the Week!

Emerald’s Journal of the Week is back by popular demand! Each week we provide you with online access to the articles from two of our prestigious titles.

Visit the following page to find out which journals you can access this week:
http://info.emeraldinsight.com/jotw/index.htm

We hope you find Journal of the Week a useful service. All titles featured are available as part of Emerald Management Plus.

LexisNexis Butterworths name change

LexisNexis Butterworths changed its name to LexisLibrary at the weekend. However, LN are happy for us to refer to the database via eLibrary links and in guides as LexisNexis Butterworths until the summer. Having chatted with James we’ve decided to keep the old name ‘LexisNexis Butterworths’ until the summer and give the students prior warning of the name change by putting a news item on the Student Portal.

I’ll let you know when we change the name on the eLibrary to LexisLibrary in the summer.

a-n Resources Downtime

Hi All,

We've received the following message about downtime for the a-n resources database:

On Thursday April 23 at 6pm BST the website will go down for a couple of hours whilst we move it and its database to a more powerful and faster server.

There will be a longer disruption for those gaining access through IP authentication whilst the DNS repointing to the new server filters through the internet. Please email info@a-n.co.uk if you need any more information.

Thanks,

James.

NetLibrary Problems

Hi Everyone,

We are currently experiencing problems when logging into NetLibrary e-books from off-campus using OpenAthens. Users are currently receiving the following error message:

"A problem has occurred while processing your request. The problem has been logged so that it can be corrected. We apologize for the inconvenience."

This appears to be a national problem, as other universities have reported the same thing. I have notified OCLC, as have a number of other universities. They are working on resolving the problem, but haven't indicated how long this might take to resolve.

Until OpenAthens access is restored users will either have to access these titles from on-campus or use the Remote Desktop.

Thanks,

James.
